Help identify an old SNES/Genesis game?

I remember playing a game(either SNES or Genesis... slim chance NES) that was fantasy themed, you played either a warrior or wizard, and it was a side scrolling beat em up sort of game, and when you got new weapons and armor your character sprite would change to match them.

And when you beat the game as the warrior it showed some anime esque art of him walking away from the princess...

Anyone have any clue what this game might of been?

No, it's not golden axe, but the games are similar.

in golden axe you can play a dwarf or a girl or a barbarian...

This is just a playable Warrior and Wizard, it had somewhat pig faced orcs(I think they were orcs) as villians, and it if you got new armour, your character sprite did as well, which I thought was cool.
