Hi all, I will be building a full fledged MAME cabinet this summer, and probably using a 19-21" PC monitor for the display. I'm debating on either writing a .BAT file to load all my games using the DOS command prompt, or looking for a front end to run DOS mame. I won't be using windows(of any sort) on the PC, just DOS to save on resources (hopefully some games will run faster then in windows MAME32 gui mode) I'm looking for a simple menu to pop up with games listed in categories and to just hit enter to run the game, I know i could do this with a .BAT file, but that would be a lot of coding. Has anyone used a MAME front end for DOS with any success?

I _heard_ that MameMix (http://www.mameworld.net/mamemix) is both a frontend for dos and win32. Maybe that's something for you. But I have to admit that I never really tried it ... just a hint. Maybe there are better ones...

You might want to consider stripping down a copy of windows 2000. You don't even have to load up the explorer if you don't want to. Just have it boot right into MAME
