netplay is becoming more common, maybe a forum should be created about it so Kaillera users can chat easier and stuff..

Never thought about that. I agree to this. It should be somewhere in the gaming-related forums/subforums.

NetPlay is the capability to play video games for almost all consoles with people across the world.

Oh ok, that's what i thought.
P.S. How can i play games on the net?

In certain console emulators, there should somewhere be a "Start NetPlay" command. Project64 v1.6 does not have this command, but PJ64 v1.4 does. It is, however, highly troublesome with some ROMs. You could try 1964. You'll just have to look for it; I don't know which emulators have it and which don't. If you want PJ64 v1.4, I don't have the link right now. If you're desperate, ask jambog for the link.

ok, and i just figured somthing out:D
Do you think that project 64 1.7 is better? I haven't heard much about it.

I haven't downloaded it yet. I didn't even know it was released! Was it released, pizzaman?

pizzaman

no i dont think so, but i think i can get my hands on one of those:devil:
But it might be hard, because, like jambog said, it has the buyers name on the top of the program:( .
I'm sure that a good programmer could fix that tho.

...Well, I here you can pay the creators for a beta version of PJ64 v1.7 if you're impatient. But not only would I have to pay for it; it would be incomplete!

Anyway, he's coming soon and will judge whether a section on NetPlay should be added or not. It does seem a little too specific somehow, though, so I'm starting to lose faith in my opinion.

I could fix that! I so happen to have a little beginner experience with using an MS-DOS binary editor. It can universally edit any file, images, audio, executables, but it's projected as simplified binary, not 0s and 1s. 8 times simpler than that. I've had experience with changing the title bar properties of my Flash executables.

Thats terrific:eek:
All you need now is to ask jambog for the file:devil:
But i dont think he will "lend" it. If he does tho, then we could all have project64 1.7. and no body would know or get mad at jambog.:)

He'll give it without hesitation as he did with me. Don't worry.

Again, I don't have the link he gave me because his reply is long past. He might post it in this thread, hopefully. He has no reason to deny you the software. It is possible for me to post a link, but I'm tired. I must sleep....

pizzaman

Are you sure he posted the link? On a topic( i cant find it ) he said that he didn't want to leak it.

Now that I've gotten my sleep, I was able to make a link to Project64 v1.4 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DVT0WFHE), one of the emulators compatible for NetPlay. Keep in mind that you can play not just Nintendo 64 games across the world, but for other consoles as well. I am just enabling the Nintendo 64 link.

I'll bet you will have some questions about using it. I await these. And delete Project64.exe from the ZIP; I should never have included it. What you want to open is Project64k.exe. From that version, use the File/Start NetPlay... command to begin from there.

Are you saying I'll give up PJ64 1.7 beta without hesitation? Cause if that's what you mean you're wrong. If you want PJ64 1.7 beta then donate $20 to pj64.net. But in my opinion as of right now the beta version sucks. I can't get it to work at all with any roms. Of course I donated because I like PJ64 and have no problem helping them out, not just because I wanted the beta version.

No, that's not what I mean. That was another topic. Obviously pizzaman, too, thought I was saying that. I am not asking for Project64 v1.7. I am enabling NetPlay for you, pizzaman, and that is not a feature of Project64 v1.7. 'Tis a feature of the version 1.4 that I have previously posted a link to.

Oh okay, there are a few links to PJ64 1.4K buried somewhere in other forums on this site, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find it on google either even though it isn't on the pj64.net site. If a netplay forum is started, then the link to PJ64 1.4K you gave should be a sticky at the top of the forum.

I wouldn't mind being a moderator for the NetPlay forum if it is created...

A NetPlay forum sounds to me like a good cause because people can setup challenges and find help and just find someone to play with.

Iconoclast
04-30-2006, 12:31 PM
I know. And I agree with you. But, as I've said last night, I feel I'm starting to lose faith in my opinion that such a forum should be added.

What happens when they post their challenges (in public...?) in the hypothetical forum? Whether the user accepts or not, the posts are trash after that and would need to be deleted. Though this obviously can be done, challenges between two users are none of the rest of CoolROM's business and should not be posted in public when they can be private messaged. Besides, what threads would you start? There are Post Your Challenge Here threads, NetPlay Complaints Here, NetPlay Questions Here, there just aren't enough.

On the other hand, though, maybe it should be added. Just not because people can challenge users in public view. NetPlay is a console-universal ability, meaning the world can be involved in NetPlay, no matter what console. So perhaps this would be a good forum. Nevertheless, my previous paragraph should be considered.

I'm not talking about private challenges, I'm talking about public challenges. (As in to anyone)

NetPlay is a major division of emulation, so I think it should have a forum.

Possible threads are, "What emus have Netplay" and "OMG sum1 plz play StarFox 64 with me" and maybe a "SSB Offical CoolROM Tornament"

Stuff like requesting a comrade for a particular game and asking for help should be dominant in the forum. Of course, a common FAQ should be stickied.

Tournaments! Good idea. A major branch of connected SSB smash to your heart's content. Very creative, CM.

It says in the Chinese Zodiac that those born on the year of the sheep, 1991, are creative. Have you not noticed, we both have this trait.

Btw, the zodiac also says people born on the year of the sheep are usually very religious. Half of my classmates, as opposed to the other grades this year, are like that. You wouldn't happen to be religious, would you, CM?

Hmmm, I'm somewhat religious, maybe a little more than average, but not by much...

Wow, I get the sheep! Together, my sheepy brothers will crush the rats!

That is a link to the Chinese Zodiac. Chinese as it may be, I've not seen anyone who has a description not matching their sign. Our enemy is the year of the ox.

Once again, Garrick's Palace of Stuff saves the day!!

Well, most of that is true, I am quite charming...

I do sometimes like to take the unpopular side of an argument just so I can prove more people wrong when I win...:p

I kinda like business, though...

WHAT? I GOTTA MARRY A PIG??

Genetics. Perhaps one of your parents were born on a sign that liked business or something. For example, my dad was born on the year of the ox, which is actually the enemy of the year of the sheep. This does not make me self-conflictuous, but this may be where our past conflicts have generated. No wonder I sometimes hate the other sheep I go to school with.

Well, obviously, we aren't getting a NetPlay forum. The worst thing he has to do is ignore us. The least he could do is slam a No in the thread and close it for God's sake.

Soon, pizzaman, when PJ64 v1.7 is released, NetPlay support will be added. But as new versions of Project64 were added every month or three months, it took them three years to release Project64 v1.6. Imagine how long it'll take them to release Project64 v1.7.

jambog, in your beta version v1.7, does it have NetPlay support in it? They said they were going to add NetPlay support in v1.7.

I have a thought that I don't like, but maybe some of you may like. What if, in the Contests forum, contests for prizes could be won in NetPlay matches instand of randomly drawing names? Normally, I'd say this is a good idea. But when you choose the winner of a contest by NetPlay gaming, the loser could get upset and blame it on their keyboard or something like that and feel the contest was unfair. Other than that, it sounds like a good idea to me.

my keyboard is only good with the 'WASD' FPS PC games, so I won't do so good with those.........

besides, then you would see the people with gaming keyboards (do they make those?) and controllers and great skill (that one's me) winning ALL of the prizes and it will happen again and again.

I have a Dual Shock controller and have no clue how NetPlay works. Onward to glory!
