ok, which emulation do people use for the 64 and where do you get your roms?
i've tried 1964, but keep getting roms that get an error message. i know i'm a noob, i only started using emulators 2 days ago. please help

Project64 is one of the best N64 emulators available so I suggest you download it here - http://www.coolrom.com/emulators/n64/21/Project64.php
As for roms, all you do is download a rom/game of your choice from the rom section, (remember to store all the roms you download in a pacific folder) then open the rom/game using the emulator.

i agree with AliciaK420 project 64 is one of the best emulators for N64 personally i use it and i'm sure alot of othere people use it to

shaddup, I can now say years of reading this topic with the answer "Project64" time and time again
1964 is unstable with certain processors, although it has the most dynamic re-compiler stability and that for GUI on Windows Vista even though I still use an Athlon. You probably got an error message on restart, image settings failure to load / bad INI cheats etc, or a bad Direct3D device for the default display list processor.
As far as which emulator would be the best just focus on making sure your system's up-to-date to help things. Into what each does it depends on the game.
