I'm trying to make it easy on me by simply clicking a ROM to open up it's Emulator.
But I'm having trouble associating the ROMs with their Emulators. Such as them not showing up in the Open With list of programs. Nomatter how many times I tell my computer where they are, they refuse to show up in the list. ![]() At first I installed the Emulators by putting them all in their own folders, and having all of them in 1 folder. And nomatter where on my hard drives I put them on, the dang "Open With" menu will not list the Emulators. How can I tell Windows XP SP2 to do this? |

No way to do it. That would only work if the emulator is installed, but most of them don't need to be installed.

I see. Well. Thanks anyways. It does make sense that it'll only show up on the Open With list if it was in the System Registry.
Sucks though. But I guess I'll have to live with it.

I've done it with Nestor and NES roms. The ROMs where unzipped though. If you have the ROMs as .zip folders then that probably won't work. I've never tried it with any other emulators then Nestor with NES roms. What emulators are you trying to do it with?

1. What you do is, you go into folder options under view or tools dependent on ur version of windows when you have any folder open, then you pick the tab "file types".
2. Click New and type in .NES, .SMC, .SMD, or whatever the file type happens to be. 3. after htting okay, while the type is highlighted, click change. 4. If you have XP select pick the program from a list and when in there browse for the emulator and select it. after that it should open when you double click it. if you dont have XP you'll have to browse for it in the opens with box and select the emulator. |

Nintendo: NEStopia (works the best with Crystalis) Super Nintendo: Snes9x (this 1 is a pain because it keeps going to the C:/ drive when I want to load a ROM. Which sparked the idea for this) Sega Genesis: Gens32 They are all (Emulators and ROMs) unzipped and in their own folders. Last edited by BeaverMon; 05-11-2006 at 07:00 PM. |
