You all think that Project64 is best. Inarguably, it is, at default. Yet other emulators can do things that Project64 can't, besides support more ROMs.
One of the 20 to 30 Nintendo 64 emulators out there, Corn, is the fastest Nintendo 64 emulator I ever had to witness myself use. At disadvantage, however, the second version of Corn only supports the following Nintendo 64 ROMs:
The later version of Corn, the slower it is, of course, as support for more ROMs is added. With the first version of Corn playing Super Mario 64, however, the emulation is too fast for anyone to even play the game. I can't see myself jump when I press A, and it's almost impossible to select your file because of how fast it is! You can download Corn here: http://www.ngemu.com/n64/corn.php?action=download. In this link, click "Corn 0.2." None of the other versions work; I don't know why. When I download 0.3 or 0.29, it just gives me two executables that don't do a thing. Same thing with emulator-zone.com. If someone could get me a working version of those other two versions...that would be nice. If any of you people ever see an user whining about their gameplay being slow, don't say they need to get a better PC. Tell them about Corn, as few ROMs as it may support. |

This is probably because you are running on 128 MB RAM (and possibly your processor is not so good, as well.)
PJ64 runs at a smooth-as-silk 60 fps (with the insignificant miniscule fluxuation, of course) for me on my 256 MB RAM laptop, and it doesn't improve very much on my 1024 MB RAM PC. Even Goldeneye runs at full speed on my laptop. Since most people have at least 256 MB RAM and a decent processor (standard issue with even the cheap Dell ones) and I think you could supplement a 128 MB RAM block to 256 MB with a $12 128 RAM block (or better yet, go to at least 512 MB), I think PJ64 is the way to go for now. What with the compatibility and simplicity and all. Did you know Sim City 2000 for N64 was only released in Japan? Interesting.... Nice guide, there.

Okay, I realise that Corn (WHO THOUGHT OF THAT BRILLIANT NAME?!?) is faster, but you do not need faster when you have enough power to run PJ64, an emulator that supports more, at full speed with no problem.

I didn't say my PC was slow. In Project64, I can emulate Super Mario 64 at...I can't remember, 200 to 300 FPS? If I'm really on crack, it's 500, but I don't know. I have NVidia GeForce FX 5200, suggested video card for Project64.
Anyway, Corn is four times faster than Project64 always...except when you enable sound. That syncs the audio to video at a constant 60 FPS. The reason I introduced Corn to you all is so you know better than to tell users to get a better PC when it emulates ROMs too slow. Even a DOS-designed PC with SOME kind of graphics card and DirectX installed could emulate Super Mario 64 relatively well. It is for users with slow PCs, or users who just are curious at just how fast they can REALLY play Super Mario 64. For either of these, chaos master, that is the purpose of this thread. Project64 has a strict speed limiter. Not perfect, but pretty close. All the other emulators use loose methods of limiting the FPS to 60, and it ranges from about 57 to 62. In Project64, 59.96 to 60.02. Pretty good emulator, but Corn is better for slow PCs and users who are just interested in what it's like to emulate so fast. |

Files needed to play Corn 0.29 or 0.30-
I think you must make the .2 files join forces with the other variants for them to work. IDK how.....

Just like you put on a plug-in, maybe you put together the files. Maybe it has to do with the other EXE's in Corn 2.....hmmm... Dude, my laptop is standard 256 MB (today's minimum for most) and it has an average processor. It is an average machine and it can do PJ64 nearly perfectly.

Okay, I will side with you, then.
'Athlong' lol. All hail Corn the speed demon. (I never thought I'd say something so absurd, but oh well...) It's the only emulator to supplement my need for speed. How about an article on TWRwin? Huh? That sounds pretty cool.
