I would never recommend using a Keyboard to play an N64 game simply for the lack of an analogue stick.
If you're laptop has a gameport, I'd recommend the MakoPad (oldschool) since it's based on the N64 design...sort of. If you have an open USB port, I recommend using an XBOX 360 wired controller, you just have to make sure that the controller plugin has adjustment for a deadzone. It's a bit of a trick to get used to but you can usually map certain types of games to the controller ie. using the right analogue stick as the C- buttons for a first person shooter (or use the Right analogue stick as the second player analogue stick for Perfect Dark...your welcome). If you want to make sure you always have room for 10 buttons then you're going to want to go heavy duty, which doesn't seem to appealing to me for a laptop. In all I don't really recommend even playing N64 games on a laptop but you're going to want a 10 button joystick with an analogue stick FWIW. Otherwise you're going to have to get very creative with button arrangement.

I think I already answered this question in another forum from the same guy. But here it is again. Get a N64 to USB converter. You can use the oringinal N64 controller (Which you can get cheap at Game Stop, EB, ebay) and use the converter to plug it in to USB. The admin provided a link on where to buy the converter for $13 in your other forum or you can ebay it. Eitherway, $13 for the converter and $8 for a used N64 controller (Unless you already have an old one) is cheaper then most USB pc controllers on the market and works better too. Just remember to calibrate the N64 controller before using it.

You just need a regular Xbox360 controller, Connect it to your PC, go to Windows Update, and download the drivers

Put it in the hole that looks like this
![]() Any computer should have one on the back, most newer ones have them on the front (sometimes they are hidden under a flap or something). SOme newer monitors even have them on the side of the monitor itself. If all your USB ports a plugged with other devices then buy a hub. |

Oh, to be honest I've never seen a 360 controller tip. I just assumed from Double///A\\\Ron's post that they where usb "If you have an open USB port, I recommend using an XBOX 360 wired controller" and that you just didn't know what usb was.
sorry, my bad. I sure there is a convertor for it though. They make a usb to PSX convertor, so why not usb to 360 convertor? Google it up. |
