I am looking for a working version of Winback - Covert Operations for N64. This game is listed on this site and others but it has a large grey block floating around the game which is very annoying and prevents you from seeing bad guys ahead. I have tried it on 3 different emus (PJ64, Nemu, and 1964) and the same things for all three of them. Does anyone happen to have a copy of this without this bug in it?
The game seems fully functional, the bug is just annoying. |

This one must be the same file that is uploaded to this site. It has the same bug. When you start story mode a big grey box randomly floats around the world. Playable, but very annoying. Like I said I've tried several different sites and they all must have the same buggy file.
Thanks for taking the time to look and post the link for me anyway

It's not because of the ROM, I've send U a verified good dump, it's a emulation issue, U can try a thousand of different ROMz but they will all be the same, live with until the PJ64 team has sorted it out...

Yeah, hopfully it will work for PJ64 1.7 when it comes out. Have you tried the beta version by chance?

Well, I just thought you'd all know, I'm going to try to make this game work. If I don't reply soon, assume that I failed. But I just thought I'd give it a try. I am downloading the ROM now. If I can't get it to work better, then let's just keep waiting for 1.7. Last edited by Iconoclast; 07-16-2006 at 04:59 PM. |

[Forget about it, admin. I guess I could've been more patient. I didn't think he'd do it...I guess I'm just used to the wrong kind of people.]
jambog, I have taken a look into your problem. A newly released version of the Project64 GameFAQ tells me to use Jabo's v1.5.2 plugin. I have searched the different versions of Project64, and I have found something close enough. I have uploaded Jabo's Direct3D 6 v1.5 here: http://www.filesend.net/download.php...3e14bb624cb9d8 There are two files you need to copy. Copy MSVCR70.dll to the directory you have Project64 installed in. Copy Jabo_Direct3D6.dll to your Plugins subdirectory of where you have Project64 installed. Now, open Project64, choose the "Options/Settings..." command, and change your graphics plugin to Jabo's Direct3D 6 v1.5. (I think that's what it was called.) Using the default settings of this plugin, the grey square will not appear throughout the game. |

I appreciate your help on this. I've been trying to find a solution for this for a long time and I am happy I finally have. Downsides of the technique, however, are the floor turning to flickering liquid, and mostly the laser lines disappearing so that if it blinks and you need to get through it you have no way of knowing when it is blinking, save that it is even there at all, which is indicated by the hum.
Of course, this can easily be navigated by switching to the other plugin while navigating the beam, and even though it's a pain in the ***, with the grey things gone, I can finally play it, and that's a better deal to me. =) |

It's your graphics card. Unless you're just making that whole story up to test us, you probably just have problems with using Direct3D 6 plugins, regardless of your version of DirectX. Try an OpenGL plugin instead, like Glide64 or maybe glN64.
